House Cuts FDA Budget by $285 Million!

FDA budgetAnd with that budget hit, the so-called “food safety” law can’t be implemented—and no money to approve Frankenfish! This is huge!
Last week the House of Representatives passed the agriculture funding bill for fiscal year 2012, and the bill included a gigantic cut in FDA’s budget. This is particularly significant because they were tasked with implementing most of the provisions of the Food Safety Modernization Act that Congress passed last year.
The Congressional Budget Office estimated that the cost of implementing the Food Safety act would be $1.4 billion over five years. The whopping $285 million budget cut makes it likely that many of the enforcement and oversight provisions of the act will not be implemented. FDA told an industry publication just before the vote that if the House funding cuts were approved, there will be a “significant delay in implementation of the new Food Safety Modernization Act (including the law’s nineteen priority areas, especially import oversight, training, and inspections).”
Before final passage of the agriculture funding bill, the House approved an amendment by Rep. Don Young (R-AK) to prohibit the FDA from spending money to approve an application for the controversial genetically engineered salmon.
Now the funding bill moves on to the Senate. ANH-USA will work hard to make sure the GE salmon amendment stays in place. If it passes in the Senate as well, FDA will not be allowed to use its funds in FY2012 to approve genetically engineered salmon. This is a big win!

  1. America’s infrastructure is being dismantled one agency at a time. Those that will continue will be staffed with corporatists. This is not my America anymore.

  2. The FDA is run by corporations. They only work for themselves. If the FDA has been hijacked by mega corporations, they aren’t doing we the people any good. Our tax dollars going to the crooks who put their profits before our health and well being. It’s broken, don’t fund it at all.

  3. IF THE FDA IS DUMB ENOUGH TO SPEND GOOD MONEY ON GMO SALMON – THEY SHOULD HAVE THIS HUGE $285 MILLION CUT!! LET’S REMEMBER THE FDA LET A PEANUT COMPANY GO ON MANUFACTURING PEANUT BUTTER PRODUCTS IN FILTHY CONDITIONS!! WHERE WAS THE FDA IN MANY OF THE CASES OF LATE IN THE NEWS!! MAYBE THEY’LL LEARN TO USE THE MONEY WISELY AND WHERE IT DOES THE MOST GOOD TO MAKE OUR FOOD SAFE!!!

  4. Finally, one for the consumer! Miracles still happen! The FDA and Monsanto have made the world far less healthy and many have died as a result and I suspect far more will. Organic food may soon be a distant memory as GMO invades the earth. We spend twice as much on health as anyone else on earth but we are no longer 5th in longevity (when I was a kid) but nearly 40th now. Check this out: http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2011/06/21/genetically-engineered-rice-is-a-trojan-horse–misled-by-bill-gates-and-monsanto.aspx

  5. Wow! It’s amazing how much better off we’ll be with the FDA able to do less!
I think we need a government agency to oversee the safety of medicines, but the FDA isn’t fulfilling that need.
They approve unsafe drugs, which have killed hundreds of thousands of people, but are pressuring manufacturers of drugs that have been in use for over a hundred years that have shown they’re safe and effective to submit drug trials that are expensive and completely unnecessary and would add to the cost of these drugs.
The FDA has shown over and over again that they don’t care about the welfare of the American people, they care about the welfare of the drug companies.
They’re so bad that hobbling them is a big step forward for the health of citizens!

  6. Finally, some good new regarding budget cuts! (FDA cuts) We don’t need them funding Frankenfish or the misnamed “Food Safety Act”.

  7. This is such good news for all of us who have been distraught about the FDA. It is not the government’s job to police our food; rather they should police the borders

  8. Wow! A victory in the Frankenfish area. Now if only we could do away with the FDA and get a Citizens Commission to oversee food safety and include scientists with no ties to big corporations!

  9. And it was a Republican who prevented the frankensalmon. That was unexpected. They’re usually behind these food-like products that make more profits for corporations.
And where were the Democrats on this?? They were going to ALLOW it! The Democrats are so often useless. I vote Green Party now.

  10. I’ve known since I was a teenager that the FDA wasn’t doing its job, which is to protect the food supply from unhealthful and toxic additives. They need to be scrapped altogether and start over with people who know the right thing to do.

  11. Awesome…….best news I have had in days. May the FDA lose all of it’s funding.

  12. Let’s hope this is true and there will be no money for those guys. But they might try to get it from somewhere else, like social services. Good Luck to All of Us

  13. The House needs to cut most of the billions that is wasted on HIV, an unproven virus. It may surprise you, bu HIV has never been found in any one’s blood. It has not been properly isolated and purified according to the rules of virology. Not 1 epidemilogy study has ever been done that proves HIV causes AIDS. Not even 1% of the population has AIDS each years, yet, we continue to pump more money into it than all other diseases put together. More people die fro the flue, or from COPD, or from MRSA each year than die of AIDS. Enough is enough, it is high time that the cause of AIDS be reevaluated and we stop this massive waste of our tax dollars.!

  14. Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I am starting to have faith in this next generation that they can turn things back around……..too cool.

  15. FINALLY ABLE TO STOP THE FDA(FEDERAL DEATH ASSOCIATION) AND ALL ITS CREEPY PEOPLE WHO RUN THIS GROSS AGENCY…..IF EVER I HEAR SOMETHING IS FDA APPROVED I WON’T HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH IT….THANKYOU CONGRESS FOR TAKING AWAY THEI R FUNDING……..

  16. This is good news indeed, and just when it looked like the FDA would have to add on a huge staff to regulate our freedoms away. I wonder if this budget cut will encourage them to do their actual job instead of wasting time harassing small farmers.

  17. Please do not compromise our food safety PLEASE DO NOT COMPROMISE OUR FOOD SAFETY

  18. This is great, now if only we could remove every FDA employee with past connections or connections in any way to the corporations they regulate, that would be amazing. The conflict of interests allowed in government just boggles my mind.

  19. This is great news! Along similar lines, I am concerned that we have heard nothing about the effects of growing Monsanto’s genetically modified crops on people who have serious sensitivity to pesticides. Perhaps I don’t understand the process, but I am aware that the modification allows the crops to withstand spraying with Round-up. Even If the pesticide doesn’t harm the crop, does it get taken up into the plants from the soil and thus stay in the fruit or vegetables that will be eaten? If so, what effect does it have on the consumer? How long does Round-up stay in the ground and what are the long-term effects on the soil?
I believe that FDA should be constrained from allowing Monsanto to use this pesticide and at the same time, virtually take over US agribusiness in order to push its genetically modified crops on the public.

  20. This is huge! But, before we hurt ourselves celebrating we need to remember that the Food Safety Modernization Act is yet a law. We need to get this off the books (repealed). Understanding that those who vote this law in are not likely to vote it out. If there is going to be change there must be a change in representation. Out with the old – in with the new. Never vote for an existing elected office. Replace them at every election. It well work.

  21. Wow. Dare we believe in righteous government action!! Lets see more sensical and non-corporate related decisions such as this.

  22. Wow, sounds good. Will see if the Senate follows suit. Until then I have muted celebration.

  23. Everyone needs to make certain that Americans eat as healthil as possible to lower the chances of aickness for the benefit of each individual and the nation as a whole..

  24. A win for now but we must be diligent in keeping GMOs out of our food supply. It’s genocide! Who could possibly be so stupid as to not understand they (pro GMO) themselves will not survive even with pockets full of money. They are “SOS” – Stuck on Stupid”!

  25. Wonderful, maybe this will help to stop the approval by the FDA of Poison Drugs and 15,000 toxins to be added to processed foods. Maybe it will prevent the terrorist swat team raids on families and their children just because they want to eat healthy foods. To me the FDA should have a name change to “murder for Corporate Profits Inc.”! Maybe it will stop the subsidies to manufacture the poison High Fructose Corn Syrup which is used in most all processed food and drinks. This Poison HFCS kills and make people sick and become addicted just like cocaine. What happens when you become sick from these poisons, you visit your local AMA, and Pharmaceutical trained drug pushing Doctor which will have you become addicted to the poison drugs and all to increase the Profits of the Pharmaceuticals to line the pockets of the FDA Commissioners and your elected Official who jump with glee when they receive the 30 pieces of Blood Stain Silver.

  26. Our nation is going from bad to worse in so many ways! To sabotage our food safety even more? Are you kidding me? How are we allowing GE anything into our food system?!!! I want it labeled to make sure that I don’t eat ANY OF IT! I want my organic to stay organic!! Stop sabotaging our food industry!!!

  27. Food safety is so very important to every American. By cutting it you are doing a disservice to all Americans.

  28. I’m glad to hear about the cut. I wish it could have been more and hope it gets through the Senate. The FDA is made up of politicians, not nutritionists or doctors.

  29. There is a decided LACK of food safety with Monsanto’s GMO (genetically modified) seeds and food products allowed by the (crimjinal) FDA (Food & Drug) Mafia.

  30. That is AWESOME news!!!!!! We need to keep this movement rolling – we need to file a class action lawsuit against the USDA – FDA – for poisoning us (americans), future generations, our livestock, livlihoods, our crops and waterways !!!

  31. I am ashamed of you people in the House. What is wrong with you cutting something that helps We the People have safe foods and meds. Why don’t you all take a cut in pay and put the americans back to work. NO MORE TAX BREAKS FOR THE RICH. BIG BUSINESSES NEED TO PAY THEIR FAIR SHARE OF TAXES AND THEY ARE NOT.At least 50% of everything they make. But you all are so scared that you won’t get your seat back you won’t buck horns with them. Your a bunch of sissy. Both Partys need to think hard about what you are doing to the old people and the children. I am ashamed that you are not puting JOBS first.
    Joan Downey

  32. Yes, but what about some of the tainted imports flooding the country from China? Not everything the FDA does is bad.

  33. The House doesn’t need to cut the FDA budget, The House needs to cut the FDA PERIOD !!! This is the most corrupt organization (other than Monsanto) on the planet. Absolutely nothing that has been approved by the FDA will ever enter my home.

  34. To Whom it May Concern:
Why Shouldn’t there be Medicare coverage for dietary supplements be extended to all citizens since the supplements might cut down on hospitalizations to preserve one’s health! Why is this coverage only extended to those people who have HSA and FSA coverage???
This sounds like a discriminatory act to me!!!
    Thank you!
    Carol Shiaman

    1. Carol, this bill is unrelated to Medicare coverage. Currently, vitamins and supplements are not permissible expenses under Medicare, HSA/FSAs, or most insurance. HSAs and FSAs are not a form of insurance coverage. They are special tax-free savings accounts that can be used to make health-related purchases with your own money. This bill is a first step that would allow HSA and FSA dollars to be spent on vitamins and supplements. By defining vitamins and supplements as a health-related purchase this could pave the way in the future for Medicare and insurance to also cover them, but we have to start somewhere!

  35. TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
HOW CAN WE HAVE REGISTERED DIETITIANS TO BUY THIS LINE BY COCA-COLA TO SOMEHOW CONVINCE THEMSELVES THAT THE INGREDIENTS IN COKE ARE SAFE???
PERHAPS THEY SHOULD TAKE A REFRESHER COURSE IN CHEMISTRY!
IS THERE ANY OVERSIGHT FOR OUR REGISTERED PROFESSIONALS?
HOW DISAPPOINTING IS OUR LICENSING COMMUNITY!
    WAKE UP PLEASE!
    CAROL SHIAMAN

  36. Congress cuts funds for food safety but allows the tax subsidies for big oil corporations to continue. We can see where their priorities are.

  37. If I understand FDA priorities, they will still do any damage they can to small farms, even if it means sacrificing drug safety studies.
Ira Edwards author of HONEST NUTRITION

    1. The FDA doesn’t do studies. They let the drug companies do them and then submit what they want. No worry about funding cuts for this agency. Big Pharma runs it; Big Pharma will take care of it. Just look at the upper echelon and their histories.

    2. Listen up folks. My buddy works at FDA. He says that FDA is not “owned” by anyone directly. The folks that work there actually try to make decisions about what is safe and what is not. The problem, he says, is that lawyers from the big business of medicine and agriculture are threatening FDA if they do not approve their products. So FDA works for you, it’s just that they are being held at gunpoint by industry. There needs to be better protection from industry threats.
For those of you with the silly idea of defunding FDA, trust me, you would not want to defund FDA- you will end up with a million new drugs and medical products that don’t work and nobody will know which ones to use, plus many will have lethal safety issues and you and your family will likely die from them. My friend says that they find safety issues all of the time at FDA when new products are being submitted. If you get rid of FDA, how are you going to personally know what works and what doesn’t? Or what is safe and what isn’t?

      1. There are many drug company executives that have gone to work for the FDA with big promotions so, I’ll never swallow that they are really two separate entities. They are Siamese twins, joined at the forehead and the pocketbook. It is definitely Good Ol’ Boys camaraderie. There are good people at the FDA, my brother-in-law is one, unfortunately, he, like many others, doesn’t want to know the whole picture and is also deluded into believing the FDA is not corrupt and our food is safe.
What was done to Dr. Stanislaw Burnzynski and his cancer research is just one example of many that demonstrate the FDA has become Pharms goon squad. (www.burnzynskimovie.com/.) I agree with Dalmazio, defund the FDA and their sociopathic godhead, and start over with an organization truly dedicated to protecting the health of its citizens. The FDA did start out as an honorable institution. We need take steps to insure the subsequent dynasty never has a chance to morph into this hideous creature again.

  38. This is why it’s so important to support Congressional and Senate candidates that are intent on limiting the size and scope of government. Limiting the size and scope of government translates into limiting the sheer pervasiveness of consumer-unfriendly policies, which government bureaucrats think are in the interests of the consumer but are diametrically opposed. Support your Libertarian and limited government candidates today! The entire FDA should be defunded. If we hold our politicians feet to the fire and *demand* spending cuts this is the good that can result.

    1. Missing the forest for the trees here: “Limiting the size and scope of government translates into limiting the sheer pervasiveness of consumer-unfriendly policies, ”
“Consumer-unfriendly policies” result from lobbying pressure put on govt electeds by Big Food and Big Corporate Ag. For instance, the 1.4 million spent by Monsanto to lobby elected representatives in just the first quarter of this year. How much did YOU spend lobbying this year? Zero? Me too. I spent nothing lobbying electeds. Whereas, one company alone spent 1.4 million. THAT is where the problem lies.
Yes, the FDA has become a tool for Big Ag, Big Food and Big Pharmaceutical to exploit and get their own way in all things. That is because of the obscene influence that lobbying has on our system. Lobbying has totally corrupted and all but destroyed the whole concept of democracy here. Thanks to lobbying and the revolving-door practice that rotates Big Industry people in and out of FDA, USDA and other so-called consumer protection agencies, institutions that were created for the purpose of protecting us, the people, have been corrupted.
But the solution is not to just make the corrupt institutions shrink or go away. The solution is REAL regulation, impartially and scientifically practiced for the common good and health of the nation.
Libertarianism is an immature political philosophy which is being used by the powers of evil to cover their evil doings and enable them to expand their evil on ever-grander scales. We need MORE regulation in this country, not less. We need BIGGER and BETTER and TIGHTER and STRICTER regulation. We need to return the FDA, USDA, EPA, and other such agencies to their real purpose: protecting us from the excessive greed and destructivity of hugely powerful corporations whose only morality is “make more money.”
That’s how it smells from here, anyway.
      Deb in Lake County, California

      1. You in CA need to pay your own bills–not ask the rest of us to support your strange ideas. Obviously you don’t know what corruption is.

      2. I agree with you, Deb, and am glad that you gave such a thorough response to Dalmazio. I couldn’t have said it better!

    2. Right on! And let’s hope that the Republicans’ wake up call will stick this time. Let’s keep the pressure on.

    3. I bet you believe War is Peace too!!
You must live in la la land. If you lived in the real world, you might have noticed that we keep finding out that our food supply is unsafe and getting more so all the time.HELLO! The FDA with its too few inspectors and now to be diminished (thanks to our libertarian and limited go’vt reps)perhaps to the point of not being workable, is about all that stands between us and constant food and drug poisoning!

      1. Where do you get your information? The safest food comed from family farms. I buy raw milk, and according to government statistics, I am more than 1000 times more likely to be poisoned from food from multinationals than from raw milk. Government rules and government raids waste much money and rresources trying to shut down family farm.
I am the author of HONEST NUTRITION, and spend much time trying to find out what is true. I make no statements lightly.

    4. It’s kind of a double-edge sword though, isn’t it? Like all government bodies and laws. We won’t be getting FrankenFish but we will be getting all sorts of toxic stuff from China due to lack of import oversight. Laissez-faire does not always work.

    5. AMEN The entire FDA should be defunded. The so called studies big pharma does are done overseas in outback countries with no oversite. FDA takes big Pharma’s word for the results. Over 200,00 deaths from pharnaceuticals /year–FDA bans pharamacists from compounding saturated solutions of potassium iodide after ONE death due to an error by one pharmacist.

  39. The republicans want more unwealthy people to die so that the wealthy people will still not have to pay taxes. The republicans need to be voted out of office in 2011 and 2012 before they steal all of America for the wealthy people. Both should be treated as feces.

    1. Where have you been the past 20 years?? The democrats have done as much or more damage to the health of this nation than the repubicans have. The FDA is run by the foxes which are the cronies of people in power at the moment. This has been goin on for the past 20 years. Do your research before you make ridiculous statements like the ones you have made today.

  40. Well, the Frankensalmon part doesn’t make me feel any better. How much does it cost the FDA to say “approved” and bring down the big rubber stamp??

  41. I love the idea of this. Unfortunately, budget cuts almost always have a negative effect, usually in many ways. I hope it turns out as positively as suggested here.

  42. I wish I shared your optimism over this development. Observation has shown that the ghouls will get their agendas carried out one way or another. Here in Europe it is almost impossible to find salmon from anywhere other than Norway. Norwegian salmon is all hybrid farmed fish. Wild salmon is all but extinct in the groceries and fish markets. Occasionally Alaskan Pacific wild salmon is seen, but at exorbitant prices… and from here on out it will likely all be radioactive. We might slow them down, but frankenfish is coming. Strike salmon from the menu.

  43. Yes this will stall the implementation of the so called food safety bill passed this past December by a Democratically controlled congress. Now it’s a different story. This was purely a vote along party lines. Only 19 Republicans voted with the Democratics against the cuts. The Republicans barely passed this bill. Don’t expect the same in the Senate because it is controlled by Democrats,.

  44. How much more than great can be added to that. Too bad it don’t also affect the already approved GMO’s.

  45. This will be catastrophic to public safety if paased. Unconcionable and moronic and proof that our hired officials and government politicians are obviously trying to undermine our health and welfare.

  46. I thought I would share with you a reply from my senator regarding GM foods. While it seems to be fine that safety and environmental issues lies in the hands of the food producers? Organic foods need to be labeled to protect us. I have replied with a scathing letter as to the logic of such and demand that he clarify his position.
Thank you for contacting my office regarding genetically modified organisms (GMOs) in the food supply.
Genetic modification of agricultural crops could increase the availability of food products with more desirable traits, such as improved nutritional value, increased yields, and reduced use of pesticides or other chemicals. Although genetic engineering may come with benefits, food producers must fully understand and inform consumers on the public health and environmental consequences of these foods.
Since 2002, producers, processors, and handlers who wish to market their products as organic have been required to meet minimum certification standards from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). Among these standards is the requirement that organic products do not use GMOs. The USDA’s organic seal makes it harder for companies to engage in deceptive practices and helps consumers make more informed and responsible choices about what to buy. In addition, the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetics Act requires that labels be truthful and not misleading, and Federal law prohibits ambiguous label statements that could be misunderstood by consumers.
I appreciate your input regarding this important issue. When the time comes for me to make any decision regarding the labeling of genetically modified foods, I will keep your views in mind.
    Sincerely,
    Senator Bill Nelson

    1. Genetically modified foods are not genetically modified to enhance nutrition. they are modified to resist bigger doses of pesticides so big pharma can push more product. I have heard scientist state that in order to genetically alter something you must take something out to put something in meaning you cannot make something better than it already is. everything he mentioned at the beginning of his letter has already been proven false by by Bio-genetic engineers that have blown the whistle on their own companies.

    1. CDC is no better any other agency. CDC is just a rubber stamp for all the Health agencies, and the AMA and the so called health support groups like cancer, arthritic, Etc, Etc. etc societies.

  47. Anyone who thinks defunding the FDA is a good thing has had enough Kool-Aid.
Granted, in it’s current state the agency doesn’t serve the people but instead of defunding it we need to reform it so it serves it’s purpose.
The person who said the government should stay out of our food safety should have their head examined.
The only way we’re going to fix our multitude of problems is if we demand that our elections are publically funded, get rid of the lobby system, make it an act of treason for our representatives to accept private money to sway their vote and require all media to provide equal time to all opposing views as a condition of their license to operate in this country.
That won’t fix everything but it’s a hell of a start. It’s the only way we’re going to get justice in this country!
By the way, this is not a new problem!
“I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around [the banks] will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered. The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs.”
    – Thomas Jefferson, 3rd President of the United States
Letter from Thomas Jefferson to Tom Logan (Nov. 12, 1816), in 12 The Works of Thomas Jefferson 42, 44 (P. Ford ed. 1905) (“I hope we shall . . . crush in [its] birth the aristocracy of our monied corporations which dare already to challenge our government to a trial of strength and bid defiance to the laws of our country”).
In 1816 Thomas Jefferson warned of “a single and splendid government of an aristocracy founded on banking institutions and moneyed incorporations” which would mean “the end of democracy and freedom”.
“I see in the near future a crisis approaching that unnerves me and causes me to tremble for the safety of my country. . . . corporations have been enthroned and an era of corruption in high places will follow, and the money power of the country will endeavor to prolong its reign by working upon the prejudices of the people until all wealth is aggregated in a few hands and the Republic is destroyed.”– U.S. President Abraham Lincoln, Nov. 21, 1864
America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves. ~ Abraham Lincoln
I too have been a close observer of the doings of the Bank of the United States. I have had men watching you for a long time and I am convinced that you have used the funds of the bank to speculate in the breadstuffs of the country. When you won, you divided the profits amongst you, and when you lost, you charged it to the Bank. … You are a den of vipers and thieves.
—Andrew Jackson in 1834 on closing the Second Bank of the United States.[2]
“… under existing conditions, private capitalists inevitably control, directly or indirectly, the main sources of information (press, radio, education). It is thus extremely difficult, and indeed in most cases quite impossible, for the individual citizen to come to objective conclusions and to make intelligent use of his political rights. ” – Albert Einstein
“The press is owned by wealthy people who only want certain things to reach the public.” – Noam Chomsky
“The citizen who sees his society’s democratic clothes being worn out and does not cry it out, is not a patriot, but a traitor.”
    – Mark Twain
John Adams: “Government is instituted for the common good; for the protection, safety, prosperity, and happiness of the people; and not for profit, honor, or private interest of any one man, family, or class of men.”

    1. Keith knows what he is talking about. One can’t really know about the present or the future unless he knows about the past. And this country is getting screwed by the powers that be.

  48. This is great news! I like to think that I have enough knowledge to determine what I put into my mouth. If a food that I want to eat comes from a big processing plant, that is a risk that I am taking as a consumer. Whole foods that come straight from local, organic farms will rarely hurt me. Foods that come from big, unsanitary factory farms and processing plants will hurt my health more than they help it. The FDA is supposed to crack down on the big companies that sacrifice safety for profit, but the end up regulating small farmers who give us the healthiest food. Our world is so backwards, but humanity is waking up and we are beginning to unwind this mess. The next few years are going to be exciting!

  49. As long as the FDA is in charge, our health costs will skyrocket and our health will only become worse.
The FDA needs to be disbanded and a new department installed that is concerned with the health of our citizens.

  50. Sorry Aida,
From what I know of the FDA, along with their draconian twin the TSA, I’ll take my chances and trust my own choices.
Do you agree with what the FDA told the court in a lawsuit over raw milk? Here’s what they think of your IQ:
Earlier this year (2010), the Farm-to-Consumer Legal Defense Fund (FTCLDF) filed a lawsuit against the FDA over their raw milk ban, claiming it is unconstitutional. The FDA’s rebuttal contained the following extremely concerning and outrageous statements, which make it very clear they believe you have no right to unprocessed food:
“There is no absolute right to consume or feed children any particular food.”
“There is no ‘deeply rooted’ historical tradition of unfettered access to foods of all kinds.”
“Plaintiffs’ assertion of a ‘fundamental right to their own bodily and physical health, which includes what foods they do and do not choose to consume for themselves and their families’ is similarly unavailing because plaintiffs do not have a fundamental right to obtain any food they wish.”
The FDA’s brief goes on to state that “even if such a right did exist, it would not render the
FDA’s regulations unconstitutional because prohibiting the interstate sale and distribution
of unpasteurized milk promotes bodily and physical health.”
    “There is no fundamental right to freedom of contract.” }

    1. You are right, raw milk is the finest of foods with built in bacteria protection. The FDA is a rogue agency with it’s hand out with eyes and ears closed. Check out the present FDA leader chosen by Obama. We are still getting our teeth cavities filled with metal, toxic with mercury.

  51. Republican / Democrat no difference the battle is over and they have won and humanity has lost
Solent Green is not that far away

  52. Cutting the funding to the FDA only allows them to continue with their worthlessness to our safety and give them reason to ‘cut’ corners on an already terrifying situation that they’ve created with their ‘control’! Wake up America! The Boston Tea Party, whether it be due to money or food, needs to be resurrected!!!
Read this article on the FDA. It’s ridiculous that our government allows this crap!!
    http://www.anh-usa.org/studies-turn-the-tables-on-what-safe-and-not/

  53. Our Constitution was written to limit the power of government to protect the rights of the people. We created this government to secure our rights, we have allowed it to become an overwhelming monster from whom we must get permission to catch a fish. Those who cry for more power for government are not paying attention. Republican/ democrat two heads of the same monster. I agree we must work to elect people that will shrink the size, scope and power of government and return the federal government to its constitutionally limited powers. Government closest to the problem is most efficient and the people are better able to maintain control. Once the federal government takes control we the people have lost it.

  54. In africa the african builds a boma. That is a stockade, or fort or impentable fence of sivere thorn bushes to protect the villages before moving on to better pastures. This seems a corporate system with the boma thorns being the staff and shareholders in the front line! Is the boma not being applied to the once respected democratic “government for the People by the People” ?? Maybe , it is Government ” +- Four people to buy the People”? Incidently, your query at the foot of these comments “Like Dislike” is not clear, at least I can’t make out which is which.

  55. Your article Making Money Online – Make Money Online and Success is very pretty. I belive this is one of the most significant info for me. I was looking at this website and I am amazed. I can’t wait to read much more from you because this is really a great site. I’ll bookmark your weblog and check again here frequently.
