A recent exposé in Rolling Stone magazine details how Big Pharma companies are making out like bandits during this pandemic. The details highlight some of the worst aspects of our crony medical system that ensures Americans keep taking drugs that are expensive, dangerous, and often don’t work. Government regulators then eliminate the competition by gagging information about safe, affordable, natural medicines. We need your help to put an end to this corruption.
Remdesivir is the perfect case study. This drug, developed with $99 million of taxpayer money from the federal government, failed to get approved as a treatment for hepatitis and Ebola, yet it has been “pulled off the scrap heap,” in the words of one Congressman, to become a huge money-maker. It costs a reported $10 of raw materials to make each dose of Remdesivir, and generic versions are already being made in Bangladesh for $600 a course. Gilead, Remdesivir’s manufacturer, sells the drug to other governments around the world for $2,340 a course.
And the price for US patients? $3,120 per course. Recall that the drug doesn’t have a significant effect on mortality.
To quote Rolling Stone:
Gilead, a company with a market capitalization of more than $90 billion, making it bigger than Goldman Sachs, develops an antiviral drug with the help of $99 million in American government grant money. Though the drug may cost as little as $10 per dose to make, and is being produced generically in Bangladesh at about a fifth of the list price, and costs about a third less in Europe than it does in the U.S., Gilead ended up selling hundreds of thousands of doses at the maximum conceivable level, i.e., the American private-insurance price — which, incidentally, might be about 10 times what it’s worth, given its actual medical impact.
This is par for the course. In the COVID response, the federal government has allocated $20 billion for vaccine development and another $6 billion for manufacturing and distribution. The profits from any vaccine that is produced, of course, will be privatized.
For a long time, Big Pharma’s business model has relied on heavy public investment to subsidize the development of new drugs. Of the 210 medicines approved by the FDA between 2010 and 2016, every one originated in government labs, or university labs funded by the government.
We have a series of monopolies created and protected by the power of the federal government for drugs that can be dangerous and often times don’t work. Meanwhile, we know zinc and quercetin and other natural treatments do work. But in order to make any kind of health claim, a supplement would need to go through FDA drug approval, which is an exorbitantly expensive process. But because supplements are generally not patentable like drugs are, no company will fund the research necessary to gain FDA approval. The result is that promising natural treatments like zinc together with quercetin are completely ignored by our health system. If we have any hope of improving healthcare in this country, this arrangement needs to change.

Why does this FDA not support natural health options? the FDA is not concerned for our health, the only purpose for the FDA is to protect the profits of the greed based Big Pharma. Big Pharma kills people with their poisons and get away with murder. I would already be dead if I was still taking the poisons the FDA pushes on us. Luckily I found natural remedies for my back pain that actually works and I stopped taking the opioid pain killers that did not work in the first place.

It is time for transparency and accountability in regard to government programs and use of taxes for drug research and studies.
I am very disturbed to. learn that many in government positions of authority over my health have conflicts of interest with Big Pharma – including Anthony Faucci and the CDC. We have a right to unbiased Science and honest answers from our government officials.

All of our tax dollars are being issued to some pharmaceutical firms that have created dubious claims of developing a cure for the current coronavirus. Some of these firms are tied to the Trump administration where they are receiving funds to the tune of billions on supposed cures that cannot be developed for in many cases years of study. These pharma firms are making claims that they can develop cures within months which is not valid their only ruse is to get the billions that Trump is giving to them. These are our tax dollars being given to in some cases sham companies who are in it for the money. We want what is finally developed to be a reputable virus solution to be administered to us at no cost as we are the ones that taxes paid for the cures.

Taxpayers should be supported non-profit health research, not research for corporations. Corporations, should be using all their tax breaks to finance their own research. Our tax money should also be supporting natural remedies that don’t have all the toxic side effects of most prescription medicines.
We don’t want to pay anymore to big pharma who is making profits off the pandemic. Our president keeps handing them more money even though some of these treatments don’t work and he and his cronies are making money off of and manipulating the stock market like they do all the time!

This is a major conflict of interest between the Federal Government and Big Pharma. This continues to be tolerated and allows employees special treatment, favors, money, and access to employment if you are one of them. Pharmaceuticals and the conventional medical system is the 4th leading cause of DEATH in the US. Many drugs are more of a risk rather than a benefit and cause other medical conditions the individual didn’t have before they took the drug. The government has failed and continues to fail in communicating preventive, alternative, and common sense lifestyle strategies to maintain optimal health. The RDA and RDI nutrient requirements are draconian. The consumer must do their own research and find credible science and products on their own for a fraction of the cost of a deadly drug. Many life saving drugs are delayed for people whos need them now or have exhausted all other avenues of treatment.
Living here in France makes me very happy to not be at the mercy of these robber-barons pharma companies. Too bad for y’all that the governments sell you out.

Similar happens here but on a smaller scale .Usually we are the” benficiary “of BIG Pharma Drugs and pricing from their operations overseas (USA mainly) and with the currency differential our costs are horrendous. Once, based on the scare tactics of WHO and Big Pharma puppets like Fauci we purchased $100 million of Tamiflu and never used a dose. We suffer the same oppressipon of our Natural health industry. Apricot Kernel was even banned some years ago as many knew it was very effective treating Cancer.We are gearing up for the fight against Mandatory Vaccine re Covid (we have only 540 deaths in pop of 26 mill) and the ‘nojab-no work’ orders where if not taking vaccine then no job .
