The FDA’s Pharmacy Compounding Advisory Committee (PCAC) is holding another meeting, this time to decide the fate of resveratrol and pregnenolone, among other compounded medicines. Action Alert!
For some time now, we’ve been monitoring the FDA’s PCAC as it recommends which substances should be allowed to be compounded. Almost always, PCAC follows the lead of FDA staff in its recommendations.
The track record is appalling. PCAC has voted to ban many important natural medicines from compounding, including curcumin, boswellia, aloe vera, artemisinin, and nettle – all of which have been used safely for decades. Recall, too, that bioidentical hormones such as progesterone, estriol, and testosterone have been nominated for the Demonstrably Difficult to Compound list, meaning that these hormones are also on the chopping block and likely to be eliminated.
If estriol and others cannot be compounded, patients may not be able to obtain the bio-identical form of it in the proper cream base. Hormones like estriol should not be taken as a pill, but pharma companies prefer to make and sell pills. You can also be sure that even if available, the cost of estriol and other hormones will soar. The FDA has been trying for decades to eliminate compounded estriol, which is anti-carcinogenic, unlike the other estrogens which can be pro-carcinogenic depending on individual bio-chemistry. So far, ANH has stopped them from eliminating estriol. With your help, we will do so again.
PCAC’s next meeting will be on November 20-21. Astragalus (an herb used in Chinese medicine for its anti-inflammatory properties), pregnenolone (a precursor hormone with many important functions), and resveratrol (an antioxidant found in grape skins with many health benefits), among others will be reviewed. Pharma is particularly eager to get control of resveratrol, which has so many uses in natural healthcare, and which cannot be accessed in sufficient dosage from diet alone.
The Committee will also make a recommendation on whether liposomal delivery systems (when a vitamin or nutrient is encased in tiny phospholipid structures) or products produced using extrusion are too difficult to compound.
From the beginning, it’s our belief that the goal of this process has been to hamstring and eventually drive out of business traditional compounding pharmacies by eliminating the types of medicines they can produce. The FDA wants traditional pharmacies to register as “outsourcing facilities,” since the agency has virtually total control over their operations and they will likely be owned by Pharma. Few traditional pharmacies have wanted to become this new kind of facility because they know it would end their independence.

What more can we do, that would actually make a bigger difference, than send a message? This trend really needs to be addressed through a more rigorous organized opposition to the progression of driving compounding pharmacies out of business. Are there more suggestions for how to organize and be effective?
I see the Gov. has NO RIGHT of any sort to control our individual health and healthcare choices.
We must continue learning from very HONESTLY, independently experienced for years medical professionals whom we may trust, and millions of people sharing with us about their individual success cases based upon natural by millennia of usage approved medicine and food (not from Farma). This means that we have our rightful choice to take responsibilities for ourselves!!! This is already a real healthy movement out there.

Our grand problem is CREATED by the majority of our own population, sleepwalking CONSUMERS, who are supporting BIG FARMA who is controlling so-called “HEALTHCARE” systems. The majority of population of all ages gulps hellish commercial food daily, quickly gets very sick, and then gets trapped in hospitals for hellish “treatments”.. this means that the population blindly manipulated within “systems”, gets CONTROLLED as stupid consumers from the early childhood, moreover, Paying those “systems” for “services” which are brainlessly destroying their life.
I believe that every individual who chooses only organic food, non-GMO supplements, carefully purifies water and air at home, is already a Hero making a big difference for the better in our psychotic society. We shall purposely support small sound, healthy productions, and organic farming that keep us alive!!!
SOLUTION: If we become the majority, choosing ORGANIC, fresh healthy diets, purifying water and air, selecting the best NON-GMO supplements, THE MONSTROUS MASS PRODUCTIONS, such as “big farma” and GMO “food” would literally starve to DEATH, and very quickly..
WE NEED NO pricy legal FIGHTS with those gov. approved “systems” because we, as learning populations, who do NOT SUPPORT those systems, keep growing into the Majority. These rotten “systems” live on profits! and they are doing great only because right now their SUPPORTERS are the majority, who are still wretchedly ignorant, trapped by their own stupidity, self-destroying population.

I know he has a lot on his plate, but the President has been favorable to many freedom issues. Can we get the attention of the President and our representatives in Congress to help with this? Does the President nominate the head of the FDA? Maybe we could suggest somebody good, like for instance, Dr. Jonathan Wright. He could whip that body into shape!
Trump appointed Scott Gottlieb, MD. and dermatologist as head of the FDA. “According to the article, Gottlieb received $45,000 in speaking fees
from firms associated with opioids. When the DEA went after Cardinal
Health for supplying millions of pills to pharmacies that filled
inappropriate prescriptions for oxycodone, he condemned them as
overstepping.” He is cozy with the pharmaceutical companies and does not represent those who prefer natural or functional medicine. Trump says a lot of things, but, as my mother always said, “Actions Speak Louder Than Words.”

You should join us with the fight to keep kratom legal. AKA has an action alert. Last year we fought against the DEA wanting to schedule kratom. The government doesn’t want us to use natural remedies. They want us to take pills so that their doctor get rich. Nope i will not go to doctor. Rip off.

I have signed petitions for kratom but at 81 and caring for my 92 y/o sister, I have little time and I spread the news for a lot of injustices. The pendulum has to swing the other way.
To take away from the people, Gods own health benefits for us is wrong. Organic foods, herbs from plants and trees, and supplements that all help us is from God. Those that steal from God in order to make more money, rather than care for the people are bringing us and themselves down. Right now, He is putting up with a lot from many, many sins that are going on, only because He’s hoping we will change…if we don’t [ this is ALL people ], something huge is coming and when it does no one is going to be able to stop it, because mankind is going to see that God means what He says. Messages don’t seem to get much action. Someone that cares and can stop the FDA and others that are and have been trying to get rid of or get hold of supplements, herbs, etc and sell to doctors, etc, need to stop them. Greed is becoming the second huge downfall of our country, along with sin and immorality.

One option is to stop working within the allopathic system and incorporate as a religious organization. Peyote, ayahuasca, and other ‘difficlut to compound’ entheogens are protected under the religion clause of the First Amendment. Bio-identicals, and others could safely be formulated and administered.
That’s a very interesting thing. Wonder if other members in other herb specialties can get together to create the church of herbs.
To put something like nettles on the chopping-block is a dead give-away. They carry virtually NO side effects and virtually NO allergic profile. I consider this a form of assault, on human health. Even merely potential health impact is a form of assault, true? It should be considered as such, legally and morally both alike. Censorship is unconstitutional, and on our tax dollars this can not be accepted. Further, there are people who may medically/physically/actually, not tolerate BigPharma’s drugs well and who require natural alternatives. Especially for those people (I am one of them) this is indeed a form of assault. It is not okay.
Exactly. Nettles are not just safe, but provide vital nutrients. I make nettle infusion to help my allergies. We must go further than petitions and DEMAND that these vultures step down from their seats of power. They have no right to do this, especially with kratom, which has not just saved my life, but the lives of hundreds of thousands of good people trying to stay away ftom big pharma’s poisons.
Hi, I have a question about FDA and GMP. Is there going to be a problem for supplements that are not FDA registered but GMP certified? Or by being GMP certified means GMP declares its manufacturing being safe for global consumption? I’m talking about just supplements or health foods.
