Please Let the Sports Leagues and Franchises Know How You Feel About This Attack on Your Freedom of Supplement Choice!
Last week we asked you to contact your senators and tell them not to co-sponsor but instead oppose Senator McCain’s recently introduced Dietary Supplement Safety Act (DSSA). Thank you to the large numbers who have already taken action.
For those of you who have not yet contacted your senators, please take action now.
It is now time to let Big Sports know how we feel as well. If they know that they may lose customers by interfering with your right to choose supplements, it will make them think twice. Especially if you are a sports fan, please contact your local baseball and football teams, in addition to major league baseball commissioner Bud Selig and national football league commissioner Roger Goodell, and let them know that you do not appreciate the meddling with your life that DSSA represents.
The background: The USADA (United States Anti Doping Agency funded by professional sports), major league baseball, major league football, and other sports associations have formed “Supplement Safety Now”. This is pulling many of the strings behind DSSA. Why? Because DSSA provides a convenient diversion from the sports industry’s inability to police their players and effectively test for steroid abuse. This may be convenient for Big Sports but is likely to result in many fewer supplements at much lower doses to choose from. It will also create unnecessary, expensive, duplicative, and burdensome regulatory requirements that have nothing to do with illegal steroids.
Click here to tell major league baseball commissioner Bud Selig and national football league commissioner Roger Goodell to stop threatening your access to dietary supplements.
Please also contact your local sports teams. You will find a list with the contact details of all NFL and MLB teams here. Tell them to tend to their own industries and stay out of your life.

Hello,
I have just learned that major sports teams have banded together to form an organization whose goal is to make supplements unavailable to the MILLIONS UPON MILLIONS of people in this country who use and depend on then.
I have used supplements for 30+ YEARS – i.e. more than half of my life. They are safe, dependable, and have helped me to become healthy.
WHO ARE YOU TO DICTATE TO ME HOW I CAN KEEP MYSELF HEALTHY?
You have NO BUSINESS telling me what I can do to maintain my own health. It is NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS!!!
Look to your own house, police your own players, but KEEP YOUR NOSES OUT OF THE BUSINESS OF THE HEALTH OF PEOPLE OF THIS COUNTRY.
Let me assure you that if you insist on trying to deprive people access to food supplements you will be fighting a losing battle. I, for one, will have NOTHING to do with sports teams – i.e. BOYCOTT – until you see the wisdom of un-involving yourselves in the lives of people who prefer to use supplements rather than medications!!!!!
BOYCOTT!!!!!!!!!!
DO YOU PLAYERS EVEN KNOW WHAT YOUR TRYING TO DO??? IT’S ABOUT AS UN-AMERICAN AS YOU CAN GET!!!! LEAVE THE SUPPLIMENTS ALONE!!!!
why cant people leave things alone, they always have to metal in things, our forefathers would roll over in thier graves if they could see what a Communist country we have become, it makes me sick, others always messing with some one elses freedoms because they dont like it..leave my supplements alone !!!!!!!!! go find some thing else worth while to mess with for a change!!
Stop interferring with everyone’s right to choose their own health care, supplements for personal use. it’s not fair to punish the country because one group of people may or may not be abusing their use.
Anything can be abused. People alread have limited access to health can and now you want to take away their option to maintain themselves with herbs and natural supplements.
somethin’gs radically wrong with this picture.

There would be no reason for anyone to purchase or consume supplements if they did not improve performance.
I understand that you have a problem with enforcing rules against your players. While I feel that those rules are excessive, your players agree to them voluntarily. Demanding that the FDA and DEA do your job by enforcing those same rules against every citizen is not the answer.
Please don’t repeat the mantra about protecting children. Tobacco, ethanol and motor vehicles are also dangerous for children but no one demands that posession of those items by adults be made felonies punishable by imprisonment. That is what you are demanding for dietary supplements.
I am a 60-year old male who wants to improve my body and who does not participate in any of your regulated leagues. Please tell me why I should be jailed for continuing to use supplemens that are now legal.
Police your own people and leave the rest of us alone!!!!!!!!!!
Gregory Jambora says:
“Police your own people and leave the rest of us alone!!!!!!!!!!”
Interesting you use the word “Police”.
Secondarily, where is the referral to the 10th Amendment. Let the states decide.
Another reason McCain is not respected, even in his own party.
I say, laissez-faire. Government hands off. The brand of supplements I use work great and I do not need a photo hungry politician screwing it up.
Dear Sirs:
Speaking as a natural medicine advocate for over 21 years, I strongly support consumers freedom of choice! The US Constitution guarantees every citizen the right to choose freely without propaganda or coercion. Your sports leagues have rules of conduct – follow them.
Sincerely,
Dr Tom OBrien
God our Father, His beloved Son, our Lord Jesus Christ and god the Holy Spirit will fight the fight, destroy the ungodly and nourish and protect His elect children against the abuses of the anti christian spirit. We feel sorry, pray and love and our enemies and the enemies of God who are against all good and beneficial things and promotes artificial stuff. We pray that our Savior will open the eyes of the elect amongst them.
Ok Henry. I’m a Christian too but…. since there are Government control Christians and Government free Christians, your message needs clarifying.
Artificial as in: Supplements are bogus
Artificial as in: Supplements are good because they are naturally derived from God’s created Earth.
What say you?
As a man who is proud to call himself a christian…………………….SHUT UP!
I’m angry about your support of the DSSA bill–please reconsider your position on this issue. The public doesn’t need to be told how to behave, and we don’t need to be “protected” from our decisions–that’s the beauty of freedom of choice. Police your players, and leave the public alone!
The McCain bill is bad law. Unnecessarily restricts my rights to take care of myself with supplements. You have a doping problem? Well, it won’t be solved by threatening legit use of supplements by the rest of us. Don’t use it as a scapegoat. Your players will just find another way to get it anyway.
Stop giving the medical and insurance industries license to unscrupulously take advantage of the American people.
It is my understanding that the USADA (United States Anti Doping Agency funded by professional sports), major league baseball, major league football, and other sports associations have formed “Supplement Safety Now”. This means you guys are pulling many of the strings behind DSSA.
Keep your noses in your own areas of expertise and stop meddling in my life. If you are unable to police your own players, don’t make it someone elses problem. Butt out!
I would like to ask you to STOP supporting any so called “supplement safety act.”
This bill will NOT solve the problem of illegal steroid use. The FDA already has full authority to move against illegal substances.
The bill will instead threaten my use of healthy dietary supplements.
My friends and I can AND WILL easily boycott you and all your sponsors if you support such ridiculous legislation.
Focus your efforts on sports and NOT politics and stay away from my freedom of choice when it comes to nutrition.
Dear Sirs: I agree with the above. We are adults we can decide and should have freedom of choice in our own health care.
As citizens of a free country, we chose to have choices. If it is your choice to dictate to the sports industry, and they allow it, then do so.
Keep to YOUR business and let individules do the same.
Thank you!
Expect more ethical, mature behavior from your players, and increase testing for illegal steroids, as well as enforcement on your end. Hold your players accountable to the rules, which are clear, and voluntarily agreed to. Increase consequences for illegal drug use. This would deal directly with the problem at its source. Their choices, and yours in this matter are part of the world of professional sports, not the dietary supplement industry.
laissez-faire
I was, as everyone was, created (fill in the blank with how you think it happened) with an individual mind to THINK and choose.
I use a source of supplements that have serviced me well. In May of last year, I had a stroke that kept me in the hospital for some time leaning to walk and use my left arm. On July 6 (two months later) I returned to work walking (albeit weakly). My reoccurring prostatitis stopped, completely for the last two years.
My wife and I have researched the quality of different brands and have chosen what we want.
And wasn’t nature’s law and the US Constitution established to protect each of us to choose what WE want?
Quite frankly, how disturbing is it that a country will more soon restrict that which makes it’s people healthy, than shorten their support for things such as fast-food and other consumables with vast amounts of health risks. For a country that supposedly wishes to provide better health-care, this is certainly one of the worst ways of showing it. For a country to thrive it’s people must be healthy, and I would likely guarantee that with the passing of this bill, some will refuse necessary health-care needed to lead an “adequate” life.
What it really boils down to is; I pay my taxes, I work hard for the little money I have, and I do abide by the law. Do not stomp on my choices and rights.
For with civil responsibility, begets civil rights.
This is still not a good bill and does is a wedge policy to ban good supplements on behalf of the pharmaceutical lobby that gives the political party money. Again, if it were actually about steroids it would be a steroid doping law, but it is not an anti-steroid doping law at all. Their clever response will lead you to believe that you misunderstood the bill, and that your own two eyes are playing tricks on you. However, this is most certainly the pharmaceutical industry at work against your freedom.
The pharmaceutical industry’s huge and profitable existence depends on people being sheep instead of being shepherds. The FDA spends a lot of resources doing the bidding of the people who fund them – mostly Big Pharma – rather than protecting the health and welfare of ordinary citizens who have far fewer lobbyists. Big Pharma will continuously try to find ways to attack our access to unpatentable supplements and Senator McCain’s co-sponsored bill is the latest attack. This is a bad bill and “bad medicine”. If anyone thinks that more laws will cure the problems that Big Sports has with steroid abuse then they are kidding themselves. Big Sports could cure their problems enforcing the rules that are already in place – they don’t need to help push through Congress additional laws that restrict access to supplements and potentially crush the supplement business. It seems appropriate to take the advice of Deep Throat in “All the President’s Men” – and “follow the money”. Who benefits from this legislation? No one but Big Pharma! Big Sports – do what you do best… put on sports entertainment. Don’t be puppets of the corrupt influences that want to restrict my access to supplements that enhance my quality of life! Pull your support of this bad bill!
