Provigil, Nuvigil and birth defects

Provigil and Nuvigil are indicated to improve wakefulness in adults who experience excessive sleepiness that may accompany obstructive sleep apnea, narcolepsy, or “shift work disorder.” The drugs’ manufacturer, Teva, announced several significant birth defects that are possible if a woman takes either of these drugs during pregnancy.
These defects include: cleft lip or palate, hypospadias, congenital heart defects, or microencephaly.
In 2019, government health agencies in Europe and Canada issued warning regarding Provigil and Nuvigil and the link to birth defects.
Teva’s warning has come too late for many children who have been born with Provigil and Nuvigil-related birth defects. If you were pregnant and took one of these drugs, the drug company may be liable for the injury. Fill out the form below, and an attorney will assess your case.
