Boycott Companies Fighting Prop 37!

Beware the companies below: they are battling your right to know what’s in your food by donating large sums of money to fight Prop 37 (the California Right to Know Act, a.k.a. Label GMO).

In addition to spending millions to stop GMO labeling in California, these companies are also supporting disinformation campaigns in which wild charges are made, such as the charge that labeling GMO will greatly increase food prices—it’s complete nonsense, as we have previously reported.
We encourage you to boycott the below companies and their brands/products (you may be surprised to learn what well-known brands belong to these massive conglomerates). We are targeting food companies that are trying to stop Prop 37 with their donations. In many cases, these contributions are hundreds of thousands of dollars—and in some cases, over a million.

  1. Interestingly, as a vegan and primarily raw foodist, I am already boycotting all of these products–although my fiance and I did share an Izze the other night. IMO, people shouldn’t be eating most of these processed foods anyway–but I do support the labeling and right-to-know wholeheartedly, and will share the list.

  2. This list is shocking. It’s obvious tht almost everyone willo be affected by this. Is there a way to call everyone’s attention to this?

    1. Yes, keep it up Loretta. But realize: psychopaths know no shame! If the propagators of transgenic phude were capable of shame all of a sudden they would burn in a private hell.

  3. Personally I will boycott these companies who are against labeling what is in our foods and I will spread the word to everyone I know and post it on Facebook! Shame on you all!!!

  4. I don’t know what you mean by Website. Thanks so much for publishing the list and products of companies contributing to fight against Prop 37. Until last week I drank Pepsi. I basically stopped because it is unhealthy. I am trying to eliminate GMO’s from my diet and Pepsi has HFCS which is probably made from GMO corn. I was going to get some IZZE tomorrow but noticed that they are a Pepsi company–so I will not get it. I can get my own juice (organic) and add sparkling water. Since I basically eat organic there aren’t too many things on the list that I eat. However, I shall eliminate those I do eat. Thanks again for the list.

  5. this is outrageous to manipulate people into buying GMO foods, I have family members that are highly allergic to many foods and now that you are going to try to change them without labels is unbelievable, be ready for one big law suit when you kill one of my family.!!!

    1. Lovenda, Don’t wait till someone dies!! BOYCOTT all products, including organically labeled ones, that are made by parent companies who are opposing, the labeling of transgenic phude. For example, Cascadian Farms products might actually be organic; BUT, their parent company is donating big money to oppose labeling. Do not feed their revenue stream!

  6. The FDA is letting food producers use chemicals and other substances that are suspect. Now they want to turn their back on the consumer again. We should all know exactly what we are eating. If a food is genetically altered the consumers has a right to know. The corn fructose lie , chemicals that we can’t even pronounce in bottled water. and hormone effecting substances that are causing all sorts of problems. Health researchers know about this and try to warn the public ,but I think our FDA should be watch dogging that stuff for us.

    1. Monsanto, the FDA and the USDA are virtually one and the same. The same FDA who wants to control the supplement industry because someone somewhere reportedly got sick misusing a supplement doesn’t think it should be involved in testing genetically engineered foods to see if they are safe. None of them have ever been tested over time to see if they are the cause of the rapid increase in AUTISM and a few other things that suddenly took off after GMO foods were quietly introduced into the American food supply in a big way in 1996. Americans ARE the test!
The FDA leaves the safety issues up to the companies making the stuff. One of the most telling is when the three scientists at Monsanto in charge of safety for the artificial bovine hormones that were put into milk years ago, investigated if it was harmful to humans. Once they had the results they immediately told their families to ONLY buy organic milk. One of the three even bought a cow. Enough Americans learned about rBST and rBGH and Monsanto sold off that division a number of years ago but the FDA still requires that those cheeses and milk that are free of artificial bovine hormones must also say that the FDA (Monsanto) has found that there is no significant differences. As for me I no longer drink cows milk unless it is organic. What;s good enough for Monsanto scientists is good enough for me.

    2. I’m sorry to tell you the FDA knows all about GMO’s. The big wigs that work for the biotech companies are on the board of the FDA and the USDA. Go on the FDA wed site and in the search box type in GMO and you will be surprise what you find. You have to inform yourself and know what you are feeding yourself and your family.

  7. Thank you for the wonderful service you perform. Many of these foods are consumed by most Americans. I choose not to purchase any of the ones on your list, but am conserned about the food I order in restaurants.
Know that investigating them is impossible, so I will inquire about the ingredients in the food I order.
    Thank you again,
    Maureen Fahlberg

    1. Good luck. Do you want to spend your mealtime debating with an ignorant waiter? Or waiting for an evasive statement from the manager or from the chef through the manager? Restaurants and staff are just as ignorant as the general population. Why would it be otherwise? I would only eat in high integrity, small (no chains) eateries, if any, where you see and can meet the owners and question them. Better yet, give up the restaurant habit, you will live longer and in less misery. Is that worth it? If you continue to eat in restaurants, the GMO content will get you in time. You really have no idea what sources they get their stocks from. Have you seen the kitchen of any of your favorite restaurants? You will find 5-gallon plastic jugs of soy oil and it WON’T be organic! It is oil sourced from GE soybeans (hence cheap). Restaurants are not established to nourish and maintain your health. If you want to buy something they will sell it to you.

      1. After learning the truth about gmo poison, my spouse and I have changed our dining habits and very rarely eat out anymore. It has been a sad transition but far better to consume ingredients that we trust. Also, damn right we are boycotting the “no” pushers of this common sense initiative. Important to increase consumer support for the YES supporting brands!

  8. I fear for our health and our children and grandchildren’s health. The garbage these companies put into our food is a prime example of GREED. However, these companies not only are poisoning us but they are poisoning their own to, that in itself is beyond GREED . Kids will share snacks and drinks and I am sure these companies and their workers have kids and family who eat these foods and drink these drinks. No one is safe not even their own. Very sad situation indeed.

  9. this page is great. I had no idea of some of Pepsico’s products and will definitely avoid them all.

  10. GMOs are not safe, and the large food industries are supporting GMOS with full support. What is the bottom line? It is not the American people. The bottom line is profit, and the large companies only care about profit. The American people do not matter one bit. Please change your thinking and put the American public, your valued customers, first before profit.

  11. Thank you for doing all this research and making it available for those of us who deeply care and for those who need/want to find out about the onslaught of unlabeled frankenfoods. If we can’t stop Monsanto, etc. from deluging us with freakish, toxic “food”, we can at least force accurate labeling on every product they distribute. What is most disgusting is that those companies who have built their reputation and bank accounts with the most health conscious of us, are the biggest lying backstabbers. I will share your info widely, while encouraging everyone I meet to vote “YES” on Prop 37 here in CA on Nov. 6.

  12. Thank you! I use few of the products from these companies but I will try to eliminate everything from these companies when spending my food dollars.

  13. I watched something the other night about additives, mercury in our teeth, floride in water, all the ways that these chemical companies etc. are trying to make us ill and poison us when our food should be safe to eat and its not. Its A Beautiful thing was the name I believe.

  14. I think that all foods should have the ingredients listed, and let the people decide if they want to eat them or not. if the ingredients are not listed, it makes me think. I should not eat or drink this.
Everyone should boycott all these companies.
    Thank You

    1. “if the ingredients are not listed, it makes me think. I should not eat or drink this.”
How do you know what you don’t know??
AND, Never buy a product SOLELY on the basis of what it doesn’t contain. Example: the label says, “Dairyless Creamer”. OK, now you are confident there are no dairy products in the creamer. But what IS in it? It could be elephant piss but it is still “Dairyless Creamer”!

  15. Wouldn’t it be usefull to give the names and brands of alternative choices considering that all those companies cover a very large fasm of our daily purchases?
The campain should be aimed at boycoting as many products of those companies as every family can and not try to completely change our eating habits. When the earning figures of those companies start droping they will get the message.
If every family boycots three to five products constandly it will hurt them considerably. The same campain should be promoted all over the world. This will get them down to their knees.
This is our oblication and we must do it for our children and grandchildren.

    1. I am a volunter with the campaign and beleive it nor not, we don’t have big bucks. The money we do get only covers a small fraction of what is needed. We are doing are very best, with what we have. We are asways looking for donations,.

      1. Dee: Please keep active in your work to promote labeling of GMOs. Thank you. Please include me in our list.

  16. I will boycot each and every company and brands that lobby against GMO labeling. These big companies will pay in the end since millions, including myself, will seek food locally and from only those companies which do not use GMO products. If they label or not, we will not buy their products anyway!!!! The best thing they can do is to stop using GMO’s.

  17. In FL. I was over exposed to these and similar chemicals that were directly injected into waterways. 2-4-D, 2-4-D LV4, 2-4-D LV6, Diuron/Direx/Karmex. List goes on and mixed also since Aquatic companies used different chemicals to treat different algae and plants without posting either. The reaction I got caused a phenomenon of my skin blood cells to literally explode to exposed areas. The exposed areas were affected. The rest of my body filtered chemicals by the neoprene wet suit but eventually would get in. This ended my diving career. If they start using these again and putting them in foods and even if I looked at every single label or boycotted every company, I can’t eat out at a restaurant either. I can’t scope their food. Meaning what would happen if I directly ingest it? Now I understand the need to use pesticides. I understand bringing in other insects, etc. to remove the bad ones will just cause problems also. We have technology to do something? Safer treatments? It sucks because now I feel like an experiment I don’t want to participate in. Yes the EPA,FDA and DNR were involved. I and my family got screwed over. At least I can let everyone else know these are bad things but who controls our lives. Big corporations. If everyone grew their own food then corporate owned governments will make laws against that or a way to charge you for it. Example Oregon claiming they own the rain water and snow and want to meter it if you catch it in a rain barrel. God gave all things to us and corporations are stealing it from us and making big profit. It’s an insane world. Big corporations even though they claim and fall upon God they are far from being Godly. You stand up they attack you. Period. Even state governments like Louisiana are not using the Tobacco settlements to get people off of tobacco products after they used smokers. Well nicotine is the most highly addictive drug in the world , labeled fact in the law suits. Now governments are diversifying money elsewhere and still big profits even more so are being made by taxes etc. Give me my 11.5 million and I will buy my own patches and treat any related illnesses. See we have no control and we are pheasants. Government is no longer run by the people or for the people. They are run by corporations. Voting is getting to be controlled now also. Does our vote count anymore? I ask that people stand up and more than ever vote for yourselves not because of your friends not seeing through the red tape and…

  18. Unfortunately, your list of brands does not include the so-called “natural” brands that these food conglomerates have bought out, such as Kashi, LaraBar, Bear Naked, (Kelloggs), Santa Cruz and Knudsen juices (Smuckers), Back to Nature (Kraft), Horizon “Organics”, Silk, and White Wave (Dean Foods) Simply Orange (Coke), Cascadian Farms and Muir Glen (General Mills), and many more….

  19. Finally! Not only do we know who to boycott – we can now see what companies are hiding GMO’s in their foods. I’m printing off the list so that I don’t forget. I seemed to have cleaned up my diet considerably over the years because I don’t eat any of that stuff – execpt for “Healthy Choice” which I gave up 2 months ago when I started finding out about GMO’s. And if you’re reading this in California please support Prop 37 – I’m depending on you. I live in New Jersey and I want my food labeled for GMO’s too!

  20. I’m pretty sure that Hain-Celestial is owned by Heinz but I don’t see it on the list. Hain-Celestial owns almost every packaged product in the “health food” stores.

    1. Hain Celestial is a corporate supporter of the initiative. It is destructive to pass on half-baed things you “think are true.”

      1. True, but last I heard, Hain-Celestial was indeed owned by Heinz, and they’ll all be owned by somebody else next week. So the best we can do is keep educating ourselves, keep up on the *real* news, and grow our own and buy from our neighbours!

  21. I have made a list of all these companies and will be sending them a petition with signatures, I hope to get 50 or more, stating we are boycotting all of their products. The petition will state, we the under sign thinks your company should be ashame of your dishonesty. How dare you donate money to stop us, the consumers that purchase your foods, the right to know what we are eating. You put your money in the wrong place. Each one of us will be spreading the word to all our friends, relatives and neigbors, and they will spread the word. And they will spread the word. Before you know it, your company will be losing a lot of money, because we all will be voting yes on Prop.37 in November. Maybe you should tell everyone too, to vote Yes on Prop.37

  22. One last comment. I read all the comments a second time and I would like to share my wisdom. I am 72 years old. I am mentally and physically active for my age. I’ve been a health nut since 1965 and a vegetarians since 1970. I stopped buying all food that was packaged because of all the chemicals way back then. The stuff in packaged foods have had chemicals in them for years. The GMO’s are nothing new. They have been on the markets since the early 90’s. The FDA knew they were unsafe, but Monsanto somehow managed to convince them they were safe. The FDA never did any safety testing. If you want to make a change of course, stop buying these chemical laden products, but you can also start preparing your own food from scratch. Learn how to make your own bread, cookies, cakes with nutiritional ingredients. Use your imagination and not depend on food that comes in a box or frozen. If you are really concern about your health and what you are eating, the best way to make that happen is to learn about nutrition. Get some books from a health food store and do some studing. I still keep learning new things about health and nutrition. I keep abreast of all the latest health facts. I don’t rely on only one source, I check out every source. We can’t depend on the FDA, the USDA, the EPA or the government to keep us safe from harm, we are responsible for ourself. So, I leave you all with this, take control of your own life. Don’t look to others to do for you. Stand on you own two feet and fight for your rights. Because if you don’t who will? And Vote Yes on Prop. 37 in November!

  23. Bravo for the detailed lists and the freedoms we have via the internet to access this valuable information!!!!! We make choices with information ALLOWED to be read and heard. Most people do not question information, labels, whatever, or the source. Blind trust mixed with complacency, a dangerous combination that serves those who have deep pockets, little to no compassion for life and agendas most have no clue exist or choose to ignore, as they’re ” too unbelievable”. Always, verify! And while on topic of having us and all on this Earth methodically and strategically poisoned, don’t forget, there is another dire issue of equal seriousness, the stream of deadly radiation, currently in the air and the ocean, from the disaster in Japan and other dangerously compromised reactors ( that you will rarely if ever hear or read about) that continues to lethally blanket everywhere and everything in our biosphere. DO IMAGINE ( and believe!) radionuclides bonding with the frankenscience of GMO’s and the horrific devastation that is happening to us, RIGHT NOW and for decades to come!

  24. I encourage everone here to watch http://www.GeneticRouletteMovie.com which was brought to my attention by the Thrive Movement (also highly recommended) I am not affiliated with either, but believe both are assisting in “the awakening” where we actually are waking up to the problems caused by those in power. The Genetic Roulette Movies is very well done, highly professional, and packed with info. I’m one of those who eats pre-packaged & convenient food, and don’t really have the time to pay attention to labeling, but now that I’m aware, I will have to change !Yes, it is easier to go through life in ignorance, but we really need to know.

  25. Had no idea Boca Burger was owned by Coca-Cola, nor did I realize Pepsico owns Sabra Hummas! Woooow~

    1. Can we get a list of the companies that supported prop 37, so we can be loyal to their products? The list against prop 37 is too long to remember while shopping, but it does serve as an excellent reference for knowing who is the enemy.

    2. Actually, Pepsi only owns about 40% of Sabra, the Strauss Company in Israel owns the rest.

  26. Thank goodness that I haven’t bought many of these items in over a deckade! The only 2 offenders I had wer Silk, and Sabra Hummus. I had stopped drinking Silk Soy milk years ago! As for the Sabra Hummus, I just stopped buying it this last January, opting to make homemade hummus.

  27. I enjoyed reading the list of companies, and brands. I guess I’m doing better than I think since the only thing on the list that I have unknowingly supported is diamond crystal kosher salt. I noticed mortons on the list too. I’ll have to investigate buying sea salt in bulk. Wish the list was in a pdf. form so I could print it out.

    1. Laura, you can buy cooking Himalayan salt at any health food store, some of those are, Sprouts, Central market in Texas. Traders Joe’s in California. Just search in your area.
Rick I am Glad you are going to prepare your own hummus. It is not difficult. You can use any vegetable even the ones you don’t like it. A little Dijon mustard gives a delicious flavor. I am glad I can find people who care and are willing to take time for a good cause.

      1. This is all good, but must of those are what people, buy cause they are the one we regonize and readly avalable , it would be very helpful.
If you print the other chiochs that are on the market. Most peole are not going to drive all over town looking for other products ,give us choise’s.

      2. Trader Joe’s has the best Himalayan Pink Sea Salt! It is lower in sodium too than other salt!
Also, if you want to print this list, just go to the top of the page and in blue lettering it says “print post”
        🙂

    2. There is a printable graphic on mercola.com showing which companies opposed Prop 37. Just search for his info on Prop 37. It’s surprising the number of organic and “natural” food brands that came out against labeling GMO foods. I used to buy Lara Bars but that won’t be happening anymore!

    3. Unless you have an unusual computer, you can print it out as is or copy and past it to a document and print it.

    4. Laura,
We have been using Redmond Real Salt for a while now and LOVE it! Great stuff! It is harvested from an ancient lake bed in Utah. Definitely great stuff.
      Here is a link:
      http://www.realsalt.com/
If you email them they will send you a sample. 🙂

  28. I noticed the author left Kashi out of the list of brands owned by Kellog. I had also seen an earlier list that listed Pillsbury as a donor to the anti Prop 37. Pillsbury owns Muir Glen. These 2 brands WERE brands that I use to buy. I now purchase Nature’s Path and Eden Foods.

  29. Does anyone know if the self/off-label carried by ALDI, Bottom Dollar, Good Cents… use GMO products?

  30. Great list. For people who buy organic, an infographic by The Cornucopia Institute’s shows which companies that own popular organic brands spent millions to defeat Prop 37, betraying consumers’ trust. Kashi (Kellogg), Silk and Horizon (Dean Foods), Santa Cruz Organic (Smucker), Larabar and Cascadian Farms (General Mills), Odwalla (Coca Cola)…the list goes on and on. You can download the graphic at cornucopia.org.

    1. This list is a great start but hard to find stuff easily.
How about getting together with the other anti-GMO organizations and organizing a boycott of all products from the pro-GMO companies. Show them that their support of GMO’s will hurt their pocketbooks! Put out a list of all products alphabetically by name (not by manufacurer) as most people would look for or find them in the stores.
There seem to be several different organizations doing the same thing. Cornucopia, Alliance for Health, JustLabelit.org, Mecola.org, NaturalNews.com, etc… One central organizer is needed for all of us to disseminate from.

  31. 3 good links for you re: boycott lists of GMO-supporters:

  32. This list includes far too many brands and products; to keep track of the items covered on the list is rather difficult. Couldn’t you give more focus to the campaign by picking out the most egregious offenders and calling for a boycott of their products?

    1. What it boils down to, folks, is we’ve become too dependent on outsourced foods. It is not terribly difficult in most regions to have access to local foods. Especially in California, smaller, organic options are plentiful! On another note-there was a time when it was considered “unusual” to not have an edible garden at your home. We need to get back to nurturing and being responsible for OURSELVES. Only you can decide what is right for you…I persuade you not. These are my opinions that I just wanted to share. Happy eating!

      1. Many of the ingredients in our “food and drugs” now come from China. Are you aware that most types of cheerios now have CORN listed as the first ingredient. Welcome
To the lies, fraud, deception and illusion of the corporations!

    2. Are any of those foods worth eating? Not in my book, they are all pretty much processed foods. I think it’s important to know who and what. Absolutely amazing. Good luck.

    3. Don’t worry about the list, OR print it out and keep it with you ( I plan on doing this for my husband since he food shops as well as I do). Just buy organic and unprocessed foods.

  33. Don’t just boycott all these brands. Send them an e-mail *telling* them you are boycotting them. And tell them exactly why.

    1. It would be easier to boycott by telling us what brands we Can buy. This list is way more extensive than I’ll be able to remember. I don’t think these companies care about hearing from us. That probably just goes in the trash. But if millions of people stopped buying their products (and I do think we, the informed, are growing in numbers), money is what will speak to them. They will give us what we want. We just have to show it with our dollars.

      1. Check out the fast-growing Non-GMO Project (Canada-U.S.). You can look up foods to see if they’re on the “Non-GMO Verified” list, and recommend products you like for inclusion. We all win, and without making any laws or petitioning anyone!
(I’m lucky because I was already not buying most of the products on this list, and I have a good memory, so less to remember for me.)

  34. So why is all GMO food banned in all of Europe? Because it truly is a cancer causing poison!
Why have the Europeans also banned fluoride ? Because it is a cancer causing poison!
While I’m at it – Just What in The hell is being sprayed in our skies? Google Chem Trails
Sometimes our sky overhead is covered in criss crossed xcrossed chem trails and no way in hell is it a normal jet trail

  35. Hi everyone!!! After extensive research on the ‘SILK’ brand in particular, it is recorded that SILK officially enrolled in the ‘Non-GMO Project Verification Program’ in 2010, and ALL their products bear the
‘Non-GMO Project’ Seal. Here is the press release to verify that consumers can hopefully confide in their products again: http://www.nongmoproject.org/2011/06/23/silk-beverage-portfolio-achieves-non-gmo-project-verification/
ALSO, if you visit SILK’s website now, the Non-GMO Project seal is present:
    http://silksoymilk.com/content/silk-difference-our-beans-are-non-gmo
So, according to THIS webpage, SILK is on the list to fight Prop 37. What is the CURRENT status of the proposal? I’m confused….
AHH USA, can you clarify these concerns for the masses please? THANK YOU in advance!!!

    1. Don’t trust anything Non-GMO Project says. It is funded by companies like Whole Foods Market and wholesaler United Natural Foods (UNFI) that sell billions of dollars of GMO food falsely labeled “natural” each year. Such fake “natural” foods include a majority of WFM’s house-brand “365 Everyday Value” products, yet Non-GMO Project lists all “365 Everyday Value” products as “enrolled in the Non-GMO Project,” and says WFM’s “commitment” to keeping GMOs out of our food supply is “exemplary.”
“Enrollment” with Non-GMO Project simply means a food company pays them an annual fee. Non-GMO Project then provides the company’s products a false aura of safety. In fact, Non-GMO Project has never tested most of their “enrolled” companies’ food products for GMOs.
Furthermore, even after a product is tested the test procedures and results are confidential (according to contracts with enrolled companies) and cannot be made public. Products that pass the secret tests get a “verified” Non-GMO Project label, but according to Non-GMO Project’s own website, “verified” does NOT mean the product contains no GMOs. It means the product is allowed to contain GMOs up to a certain threshold determined by Non-GMO Project.
      It’s a greenwashing scam.

    2. I replied with some very pertinent information, but moderators censored the post entirely, and without explanation. Apparently we do NOT have a “right to know” when the fix is in.

      1. Thanks for your comments! No censorship here–we have to manually approve every comment on our website, which sometimes takes a day or two. However, as long as your comment adheres to our policy (no swearing, no all caps comments, no personal attacks, etc.), it will be approved.

  36. When I originally commented I clicked the “Notify me when new comments are added” checkbox and now each time a comment is added I get four e-mails with
the same comment. Is there any way you can remove me from
    that service? Thank you!
