Nine French lawmakers, citing the ban by Canada and a number of U.S. states, have proposed legislation to ban bisphenol A (BPA) in all food containers (including baby bottles) setting the stage for France to become the first European country to ban BPA. In May, Denmarkâs parliament passed a resolution calling on its government to forbid the use of BPA in baby bottles.
The journal Pediatrics will soon publish a study potentially linking exposure to phthalates (of which BPA is one) to low birth weight. And yet the FDA has still not acted on the pending AAHF petition regarding the presence of BPA in composite fillings and dental sealants used in children.
